When it comes to symbolism of identity, which aspect do you think will top the list? As per me, it’s your name. A woman taking up her husband’s name after marriage is the one of the oldest and most common tradition found across several cultures. This change in identity was considered so obvious that there hardly was any discussion regarding it. Women were also more than happy to let go of their own family name and lovingly merge with their new family. But in today’s era of super woman like independent thinking, some ladies have started taking a step back and analyse the pros and cons of giving up their own name for another.
