It’s been a while since we have been talking about
how a superwoman can make a difference. How she can bring about alterations for
the benefit of others and how she can make others proud if given her chance and
some free space to bloom in. The National Women Cricket Team of England
whitewashed the One Day International series by thrashing Sri Lanka in the last
One Day International in Colombo and winning the One Day International series
by 4-0 on the opponent’s home ground itself.
The jubilant Women Cricket team of England led by Heather Knight totally dominated their opponents on the pitch of Colombo. Batting first, the England Women Cricket Team scored a humongous total of 290 runs at the loss of 9 wickets as rain forced the umpires to abandon the game for that day. Coming out to bat the next day, Sri Lanka Women Cricket Team didn’t spend much time on the pitch as they were bowled out for 78 runs. Laura Marsh was the leading wicket taker as she took 4 for 21 runs which also consisted of her 100th wicket in her One Day International Career. She surely did follow what her heart said with the right planning, determination and hardwork, she did everything a superwoman should do and proudly achieved the feast.
It is said, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman”. In this instance it was Mark Robinson, the coach of England Women Cricket Team who after the match highly appreciated about the hardwork these players had put in. He said, “As a group, we’ve come a long way, a lot has happened, and of course there have been a few bumps along the way, but overall we really feel that we are moving in the right direction, which is the most important thing. Since the beginning the players have given it everything, which has been fantastic, I couldn’t have asked them for any more.” This is how a superwoman grows, helping out each other and moving forward together.
The Coach was high on appreciation for the captain of the team Heather Knight too on how she is getting better after every match she is playing both as a leader and individual.
This is the 6th series win for the England Women Cricket Team in 2016, and they have also got qualified a place for themselves in the 2017 ICC Women World Cup when they beat Sri Lanka in the Second One Day International. These women are up for something big and you can feel and see it right there in the way they are approaching towards their goal. They fill every quality of being a superwoman and we hope they keep doing so and keep us motivated to strive ahead.
